Due to its location adjacent to Northern Ireland's principal
sea freight terminals and its direct links to the motorway system
Belfast Harbour Estate is now established as the hub of logistics
activity for Northern Ireland. Belfast Harbour Estate is at the hub
of Northern Ireland's road network with no part of the Province more
than one and a half hours from the Port and 60% of the population
of Northern Ireland within 30 minutes travel.
Over 45,000 square metres of logistics warehousing has been constructed
by the Commissioners in the last five years.
Recent constructions
include a major logistics warehouse centre adjacent to the Victoria
Terminals where five purpose built multi temperature warehouse
units have been completed to date and are in use for the storage
and distribution of goods for Ireland's leading manufacturing companies
and 'time sensitive' food cargoes associated with the national
supermarket chains.
An additional 60 acres of land adjacent to this area has recently
been reclaimed and this will accommodate further expansion of the
logistics centre together with new marine terminals including Stena
Line's new terminal.
On the County Down side of the Port, infrastructure works have
commenced on a 40 acre site earmarked for logistics activity and
port development further enhancing the Port's ability to deliver
market leading logistics centres to its customers.
