Health and Safety

The Belfast Harbour Commissioners acknowledge that health and safety at work is one of our prime responsibilities. We are determined to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all our employees and of all others who may be affected by our operations.

The Belfast Harbour Commissioners are committed to best health and safety practice and for this purpose we have implemented a Safety Management System for both marine and land-based operations. It is our policy to monitor the effectiveness of the system and to ensure as far as is reasonably practicable that it continues to represent best practice.

The Management of the Port of Belfast, through the organisational structures that have been put in place, will take all reasonably practicable steps to ensure that

the risks to health and safety throughout the Port of Belfast’s operations are properly assessed,
there are safe systems of work in place,
there is a safe environment in which to work,
employees are given adequate supervision, information, instruction and training to perform their duties.
