Each year, Belfast Harbour handles goods through the Port valued at circa £20bn which equates to 60% of imports for the region and 20% for the island of Ireland. In terms of trade, Belfast Harbour is a major economic multiplier for the economy helping support almost a third of Northern Ireland’s GDP.

The Operations Engineering Services Department provides electrical and mechanical maintenance, repair and servicing of Harbour cranes, installations, plant and equipment and is focused on providing efficient service delivery that fully meets customer expectations. We are seeking to recruit a senior manager with a proven track record who will join the wider Operations Management Team to deliver ‘Best in Class’ services to Belfast Harbour’s customers.

Job Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for: 

• Leading and managing an engineering and technical team to deliver a comprehensive and highly professional mechanical and electrical engineering capability to the Harbour, including general maintenance and servicing capability for plant, equipment, systems and infrastructure.
• Ensuring the application of the highest standards of management and best practice to all Operations engineering work within the Harbour.
• Actively supporting the technical evaluation of projects.

Qualifications and experience:

You will have:

• A minimum of HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering (Chartered Engineering Status would be desirable).
• In excess of 10 years mechanical/electrical experience, of which at least 5 years should be recent and in a relevant environment. 
• A demonstrable track record in managing and leading people.  
• A strong customer satisfaction and team ethos.
• Energy, drive and enthusiasm.
