Belfast Harbour's approach to safety is based on a thorough understanding of the risks; planning and implementing effective controls; measuring results and reviewing performance to inform continuous learning and improvement, driven by strong and committed leadership at every level of the organisation.

The Harbour's Health, Safety and Environmental Management System which encompasses both marine and non-marine safety is certified to the OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO 14001:2004 standards.  The system is rigorously tested by internal and external audit to assess compliance and drive continuous improvement.
