Community Awards

As Belfast Harbour continues to play a vital role within communities here in Belfast, and the surrounding areas, we want to help the organisations and charities which make a positive impact in their own communities.

2025 community awards - round 2 is now closed to entries

The Community Awards are part of Belfast Harbour’s ongoing commitment to advance prosperity and create vibrant places and communities by supporting the work of grassroots and charitable organisations across Northern Ireland.

Running since 2021, our Community Awards programme provides individual grants of up to £5,000 for grassroots community groups, charities and not-for-profit organisations registered in Northern Ireland. In total, £100,000 in funding is awarded annually, in two separate £50,000 rounds.

The second round of the 2025 Community Awards is now closed for applications. Keep an eye on our social media channels for details of the 2026 awards in the Spring.

Projects which have benefitted from the awards recently include the Hanwood Trust's weekly 'Stronger for Longer' exercise class, which focuses on improving the health, well-being, and social interactions of older adults.

Who Can Apply?
Any grassroots, community embedded, not-for-profit organisation with a charity number or a governing body affiliation may apply. Individuals and businesses are not eligible, and we do not support projects with religious or political objectives. The applications are evaluated by the Community Awards Management Team to determine funding allocation.
