Roy Adair CBE
Belfast Harbour’s CEO Roy Adair has been awarded a CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Welcoming his award for services to the UK Ports Industry and voluntary service to business in Northern Ireland, Roy said:
“Apart from Belfast Harbour, in recent years I’ve been involved with groups such as Business in the Community, The Prince’s Trust and NI Connections which strive to support local enterprise and communities. My family and I am thrilled by this honour, but I’m very conscious that it is an achievement which reflects the many excellent colleagues that I’ve had the privilege to work with.”
In ten-years as CEO, Belfast Harbour has continued to be one of the largest sources of non-Government capital expenditure in Northern Ireland. Major projects have included the relocation of Stena’s facilities and the creation of Ireland’s longest deep-water berth at Stormont Wharf.
Investment has helped the Harbour diversity its business and, has been able to reinvest all retained profits into enhanced marine infrastructure and urban regeneration projects within the Harbour Estate such as City Quays. In the past five years the Harbour has invested £100m with plans to invest a further £120m within the next 3 years.
Roy is also Chair of Business in the Community and NI Connections and is a Board Member of The Prince’s Trust, and the NI Centre for Economic Policy.
