Masterplan 2025-50

HORIZONS OF OPPORTUNITY

Our 2025-50 Masterplan sets out a 25-year framework for Belfast Harbour’s development, covering 2,000 acres of land and 1,000 acres of water. At its heart is a working port that handles around 70% of NI’s seaborne trade, with research confirming that Belfast Harbour facilitates around £26.7 billion worth of trade each year and supports £8.8 billion in Gross Value Added, equivalent to 15.7% of NI’s total annual economic output.

This exciting and dynamic plan outlines how we can create an even more successful port and estate, sustaining our role as a business that enables trade, tourism, clean growth and innovation, as well as shaping new places to work, live and invest in.

Developed over two years of engagement with stakeholders across industry, government and the community, the Masterplan outlines up to £1.3 billion of port infrastructure investment across three horizons to 2050 – generating a projected minimum of £36.2 billion in economic value of trade through Belfast Harbour.

Belfast Harbour is a cornerstone of our regional economy. Planning ahead is essential to helping us protect that role for future generations.

Our Horizons

Our Masterplan is focussed around three horizons which will provide the structure and direction for what we are planning to achieve over the next 25 years.

A Partnership Approach

The 2025-50 Masterplan isn’t just our vision, but that of everyone who has a stake in the future of Belfast Harbour as a port and an estate.
